Celebrating Black History Month with a Champion of Diversity and Inclusivity
Ken Douzart, Hiscox Strategy Delivery Specialist
I wanted to help promote allyship, provide a safe space for people to express themselves, and to have access to opportunities for personal and professional growth.
I was provided a six-month secondment opportunity designated as one of several tools used to support and advance DEI. The program was designed to accelerate development, improve readiness, and provide visibility for those in traditionally under-represented employee groups into positions of greater responsibility. We’re also a founding sponsor of the BlackInsurance Industry Collective – the BIIC – who play a key role in supporting and accelerating the advancement of Black insurance professionals. Like these programs, I see the insurance industry becoming more diverse with underrepresented people in executive leadership positions at leading carriers.
The network creates a buddy system for its members to have a reliable, motivated, single point-of-contact for their basic questions regarding their work experience and career progression at Hiscox.
Regarding the wider community, a $3K donation was made on behalf of Hiscox Pan African Network and The Hiscox Foundation to the GeorgiaBlack United Fund, which provides services in the areas that meet general human needs, including youth, education, health, veterans, culture and arts, and overall community development.
