Bold Penguin ranked #153 among Newsweek’s list of the top 200 American companies
COLUMBUS, OH – In May 2024, leading digital solution platform dedicated to simplifying commercial insurance, Bold Penguin, announced certification as a Most Loved Workplace® (MLW) backed by the research and analysis of the Best Practice Institute (BPI). In October 2024, Newsweek magazine published the annual America’s Top Most Loved Workplaces® list and ranked Bold Penguin #153rd out of the nation’s top 200. This marks the fourth annual Most Loved Workplace® list. This year, the list has expanded to the Top 200, reflecting companies' growing commitment to prioritizing employee sentiment and creating workplaces that employees love.
“Being certified as a Most Loved Workplace will serve as a highlight in our company history. Our strong industry presence is a direct result of our extremely dedicated team’s collaboration at every level. This recognition for fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and inclusion as a great place to work is an accomplishment that we hold in the highest regard,” says Dan Gifford, CFO and CHRO, of Bold Penguin.
The results were determined after surveying more than 2.6 million employees from businesses with workforces varying in size from less than 50 to more than 10,000. The list recognizes companies that put respect, caring, and appreciation for their employees at the center of their business model and, in doing so, have earned the loyalty and respect of the people who work for them.

To identify the top 200 companies in this list, companies were evaluated and scored as follows: 50 percent of the initial score was based on direct employee responses to BPI's Love of Workplace Index® assessment. 35 percent came from BPI's direct interviews and written responses from company officials. The final 15 percent was derived from analysis of external public ratings from sites such as Comparably, Careerbliss, Glassdoor, Indeed, and Google. Newsweek then conducted editorial research on every company before the final list of 200 companies and their rankings was completed.
Bold Penguin earned certification as a Most Loved Workplace® because of its cornerstone belief that an engaged, inclusive workforce continually does their best work. Their laser focus on employee satisfaction and being a great place to work is evidenced by a range of initiatives, including Penguin Palooza, a multi-day in-office event wherein teams participate in either a track with incentivized idea pitch and coding competitions for product improvements or a track of community service, training & team meetings; annual “March of the Penguins” employee appreciation/recognition activities in the month of March; cross-departmental collaboration in company-wide weekly “waddle” meetings that allow everyone to share departmental initiatives; Employee Resource Groups (ERG); and market-competitive benefits. The Most Loved Workplaces® program certifies companies where employees are the happiest and most satisfied at work. Bold Penguin gained certification based on its scores on the Love of Workplace Index™, which surveyed employees on various elements around employee satisfaction and sentiment. Our people cited the level of respect, collaboration, support, and sense of belonging they feel inside the company as reasons why it’s a great place to work.
"I started Most Loved Workplaces out of inspiration from my community of people who consciously place love for their employees at the center of their business model," said Louis Carter, the Founder and CEO of BPI and a social/organizational psychologist, thought leader, entrepreneur, and author. Carter's book, "In Great Company: How to Spark Peak Performance by Creating an Emotionally Connected Workplace," identifies the specific areas needed to become a highly respected, reputable organization where people love to work with each other – a Most Loved Workplace.
Backed by BPI, in its original research that created MLW criteria, Most Loved Workplaces surveyed more than 175 companies and more than 3,000 executives across the United States, the Middle East/Northern Africa, and Southeast Asia. They found that productivity rises as employee sentiment increases, with 94 percent of responders saying they did three to four times more work for a company they loved and 95 percent saying they stayed at companies they loved three to four times longer. Most Loved Workplaces certification is the most valid method to determine employee experience and recognize a great place to work.
