What is North Peak Access?

North Peak Access is Bold Penguin’s wholesale brokerage operation that assists retail agents with accessing admitted and non-admitted markets, obtaining quotes, and facilitating policy placement. The Placement Desk is the North Peak Access team, comprised of Placement Specialists and E&S Underwriters, responsible for reviewing submissions, obtaining quotes, and managing policy issuance for carriers available through Bold Penguin wholesale appointments.

Who owns the business for policies placed through North Peak Access?

Who handles servicing?

If the policy was placed through a market access appointment, where you have a sub-code with the carrier and/or can quote directly with the carrier through its portal, then the agent/agency that bound the business is responsible for policy servicing. If the policy was placed through the Placement Desk (North Peak Access) team, you would have received written instructions with your final policy documents pertaining to policy servicing, as servicing responsibilities vary by carrier. While some carriers allow agents to contact their service centers directly, others require agents to submit service requests through the Placement Desk (North Peak Access) team.

What is a Market Access appointment?

Also known as a sub-appointment, a market access appointment is a way for an agency to access and write business with a carrier without holding its own direct appointment with that carrier. Through a Market Access appointment, the agency writes business under North Peak Access’s master appointment with the carrier. The agency remains the customer-facing agent, completing the application, binding the policy on behalf of its insured, and earning the corresponding commission. North Peak Access manages the underlying carrier relationship and appointment. You get access to the carrier through our appointment, rather than needing to secure your own.
